Course description
The Radiology Refresher Course is a relevant program designed to update and enhance the radiologic skills and knowledge of dental hygienists.
This course gives a review of radiographic techniques, safety protocols, and interpretation skills essential for accurate diagnosis and patient care. -
Objectives
- Learn Radiographic Techniques: Gain knowledge and proficiency in both digital and film radiography, including intraoral and extraoral imaging techniques, patient positioning, and error correction to ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
- Enhance Interpretation Skills: Develop the ability to accurately interpret radiographic images, identify common errors, and recognize anatomical landmarks, leading to improved diagnostic accuracy and better patient outcomes.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance: Implement standard infection control practices, understand radiation safety protocols, and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant radiographic practice.
- Stay Current with Radiologic Technology: Update your knowledge on radiographic technology, image processing, and quality assurance, while understanding the underlying physics of radiation and its interaction with biological tissues.
Angie Lehman, RDH, COM
Angie earned her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1999. She began practicing Orofacial Myology in 2012 and received her Certification from the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) in 2014. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the IAOM. Angie is the owner of Oral Myofunctional Therapy of York (OMT of York).
As a Certified Orofacial Myologist, Angie provides caring, individualized therapy for patients of all ages with Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD’s). She is passionate and enthusiastic about prevention and treatment of the causes of OMD’s rather than just treating the symptoms. Her fun and relaxed approach to the elimination or Oral Habits has proven to be very successful.
Her expertise includes Sucking Habit Elimination, Tongue Thrust correction, Oral Rest Posture Therapy and the recognition of tongue and lip ties and their influence on orofacial growth and function. She works in conjunction with, and is well respected by local Dentists and Orthodontists, Speech Pathologists, ENT’s, Lactation Consultants, and other skilled medical professionals.
